Kraken and Will Borgen Agree on Two-Year Contract Extension

Will Borgen signed a two-year, $5.4 million contract with the Seattle Kraken on Friday. It has an average annual value of $2.7 million.

The 26-year-old defenseman was a restricted free agent and avoided a salary arbitration hearing.

Borgen played all 82 regular-season games for the Kraken last season and had an NHL career high 20 points (three goals, 17 assists). He had three points (one goal, two assists) in 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the fourth round (No. 92) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Borgen has 28 points (five goals, 23 assists) in 132 regular-season games for the Kraken and Sabres.

The Kraken also signed forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare to a one-year, $775,000 contract Friday. The 38-year-old forward had 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 73 regular-season games for the Tampa Bay Lightning last season and two points (one goal, one assist) in six playoff games.
