Whitecloud signs six-year Extension with Golden Knights

Zach Whitecloud signed a six-year, $16.5 million contract with the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday. It has an average annual value of $2.75 million.
The 24-year-old defenseman is in the final season of a two-year, $1.45 million contract ($725,000 average annual value) he signed with Vegas on March 22, 2020 and could have become a restricted free agent after the season.
Whitecloud has one assist in four games this season; he has missed the past three games with an upper-body injury.
Signed by Vegas as a free agent March 8, 2018, Whitecloud has scored 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) in 72 regular-season games and seven points (three goals, four assists) in 39 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The Golden Knights also signed defenseman Ben Hutton to a one-year, $750,000 contract on Thursday. Hutton scored five points (one goal, four assists) in 38 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks last season and has scored 91 points (16 goals, 75 assists) in 379 regular-season games with the Maple Leafs, Ducks and Vancouver Canucks.
